Can you reschedule the GMAT?

Some applicants schedule their GMAT 3-4 months prior in advance when they start preparation. Also some toppers who are very confident of test schedule their exam in last minute as GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) allows students to schedule 24 hours before test.

So sometimes booking test at end time can lead to anxiety or stress. Also when you schedule test 4 months prior you are not aware what situation will be at the time of test. So in these cases Can you reschedule your GMAT?

Like almost every other appointment, GMAT can be rescheduled but you will not receive full refund no matter what time you reschedule or cancel the test. You can reschedule as many times as you want but keep in mind the new date should not be more than 6 months from the previous date.

When it is possible to reschedule?
This question can be a little odd to you but it has a valid reason why it is included in this blog. As other appointments, GMAT does not let you reschedule or cancel last minute. Also you will pay cancellation fee no matter when you cancel. You will not be allowed to cancel 24 hours prior the appointment, the only option you will be left with is not to appear on exam day as it would not affect you in any case.

Fee for rescheduling GMAT

  1. Rescheduling more than 7 days before – $60
  2. Rescheduling less than 7 days before – $250

When to definitely reschedule?
There are only some cases when rescheduling a GMAT is a smart idea. For example when you are sick or suffering from some personal obligation rescheduling few hours or days can be useful. But in any which way if you are doing this in less than 7 days before appointment you are not getting any refund and it is like you will be filling new application form.

Reschedule, Cancel or Retake the test?
What if you are unprepared or underprepared?
You should go and take the GMAT. The worst that can happen is you will get a low score. But you can always cancel your scores if you feel it is unsatisfactory for you. Every student is allowed to cancel or accept their GMAT scores after they have finished their exam. Even if you haven’t cancelled your score at that time it will get accepted but there will be always a option on mba.com to cancel your score.
